MY VOLUNTEER WORK

On the afternoon of January 20th, I went to the neighborhood community of the street with Avery. We did some volunteer jobs there. It is special day because on that day they helped for a conference with the disabled people. We were tired to help the work there to arrange the meeting room, and help them clean it after the conference.

I told to the workers in the neighborhood community our idea before we went there, they were very happy because they thought that it was a meaningful thing. At 1 p.m., we went there and found the chairman of the neighborhood community. She took us to the meeting room and told us what we should do to prepare for the meeting. Then we started our job. We turned on the air condition to make the room warm and did some cleaning. After we finished, we went and stood at the gate of the neighborhood committee and told the people who came to the conference where the meeting room was. Because the people who took part in the conference were all the disabled people, they might have difficulty walking upstairs. We helped them go to the meeting room. During the conference, we gave people cups of tea and helped the staffs hand out the fruits that the neighborhood committee gave to the disabled people as presents. We also talked to them, listened their stories. After the meeting, we swept and mopped the floor and also cleaned the table. At last, we moved the chairs to the 1st floor, we are tired but happy. Workers in the neighborhood community were grateful to our help, they gave us some candies as present. We leave at 5 p.m. with the setting sun.

I learned a lot from the volunteer work. It is very important for us to know about the disabled people. During the conference some disabled people told us their stories and we thought a lot about it. In this neighborhood community there are many disabled people, in our city there many neighborhood communities like this, so there are thousands of disabled people need our help. What can we do for them? Every time I gave the cup of tea to them, they always said “Thank you!” to me. When I was talking, they always looked carefully at me. They tried their best to respect me, then I understood what we can do for them. It is to respect them, use our hearts to respect them. For working, I also learned a lot. If you work hard, people will be grateful to you.

Thank you for them to give me this chance to do volunteer work for disabled people. It is meaningful and I will never forget.

I also did volunteer work in Nanjing Jingubang Company for 6 hours and learned a lot. Here is the the verifications.
